EDUCATION

  • According to governmental numbers 18 % of the population in school age does not receive education, which means that in Colombia is near 2.300.000 children and girls externally of the educational system
  • In our country, 2 million 542.863 children and girls in school age are externally of the educational system. (Alliance for the Colombian childhood)
  • In Colombia, only one of every two children of low strata has access to the pre-school level; whereas four of every five of high strata has it. (Alliance for the Colombian childhood) 
  • In Bogota, during 2004, 63.578 children and young kids they left the study. Other 85.282 ended the year, but they did not return in 2005 (Secretariat of Education of Bogota)
  • In Colombia, it thinks that 18 of every 100 children who deal 1 º of primary leave their studies. This number grows to 30 children in the rural zones, where the situation is really worrying.
  • 8 % of the Colombians (3.5 millions) is illiterate, according to report realized by Foundation It Crowns, the Preal and Corpoeducación
  •  53 Colombian for every 1000 inhabitants that uses Internet.

 

 

CHILDHOOD

  • In the world, a whole of 7,5 million minors lives in the poverty and of them a million in the misery (UNICEF)
  • Colombia is the fourth country of the world with more children linked to the war: Of 14.000, 67 % is in the Farc, 13 % in the Eln and 20 % in the Self-defenses (Human Rights Watch)
  • Approximately 35.000 minors are victims of the sexual exploitation in Colombia and 16.000 of them are between the 8 and 12 years (Unicef) 

 

BIRTHRATE

  • In Colombia a women's low proportion (9 %) does not accede to prenatal control, this percentage reaches up to 47 % in urban isolated zones or in displaced population (United Nations)
  • 19 % of 19-year-old menores in Colombia are mothers or are pregnant. This percentage reaches 30 % betweenthe displaced teenagers (United Nations)
  • In Colombia, 1 of every 5 young kids between 15 and 19 years is a mother or is embarrassed of their first son. 16 % of births in the country appears in teen mothers (UNO) 

 

 

POVERTY

  • 59.8 % of the Colombian population lives below the line of poverty. Of this number    9 % lives in conditions of misery, situation that affects with major rigor the infantile population (DANE)
